Reinforcing site safety: Safety quizzes

It is important that everyone working on site is appropriately trained on safety issues.

Improvements and new ideas should be sought by consultation with and feedback from operatives.

Below is an example of how quizzes have been used to reinforce safety messages and gather feedback from the workforce:

  • The site manager developed a safety quiz, which was taken once a month with the whole site team;
  • The quiz took about 15 minutes and the questions were tailored to a specific stage in the works;
  • The site manager used the answers as a toolbox talk to further learning.

This proved to be a proactive way to encourage the workforce to get involved in raising safety awareness.
