Remote Controlled Lighting

It is important to identify environmental issues in order to implement management systems to reduce the impact.

Minimising pollution and energy usage will reduce the negative effect that a site can have on both the environment and local community, as well as potentially reducing costs.

Below is an example of how a site reduced the environmental impact of light pollution and saved energy:

  • As well as having flood lights on timers, the non-emergency lighting in all four blocks was linked to a device that enabled them to be turned on and off via text message;
  • This could also be utilised via an authorised mobile phone in any location;
  • This allowed for a greater level of accuracy than could be achieved with timers alone because of varying hours/arrangements;
  • The system also ensured that all lights were turned off at the same time and offered all the advantages of a remote control system.
