On July 23 2015, a lady was hit into the path of a double-decker London bus. Bryan Williams was one of the first of our CoLOR team (Costain and Laing O’Rourke) to attend the lady and assist with First Aid, calling the Emergency Services in the process.
The lady was bleeding from a head wound and Bryan among policeman and doctors continued to look after the welfare of the lady until Paramedics arrived. In the immediate vicinity vehicles and pedestrians were beginning to choke up and the bus was blocking the flow of traffic.
A number of our Supervisors took control of the congestion build up and with the assistance of a number of our Traffic Marshalls, Direct Employees and Sub-Contractors, they were able to safely control the traffic and pedestrian flow until Emergency Services arrived. They maintained the flow until she was safely taken away.
Afterward, we helped the Police by providing them with our CCTV footage of the event in an attempt to answer their enquiries. They subsequently returned later in the evening to further review the site and footage. The Metropolitan Police were very grateful with the help in First Aid and traffic control.
