Restricting Use of Mobile Phones

Any potential distractions should be minimised on site, to ensure the safety of the workforce.

The nature of construction work often creates potential dangers to operatives, therefore it is essential that any distractions are removed, to ensure that operatives full attention is on the task at hand, minimising the risk of accidents on site.

Below is a measure implemented on site to restrict mobile phone use:

  • A poster was developed to encourage the safe use of mobile phones, it was placed in the compound or areas on site where mobile phones could be used safely;
  • The poster was in the shape of a hand with the slogan ‘if you can touch this hand you are in safe zone to use your mobile phone’;
  • Phones could only be used if operatives were next to the poster.
