TCi furniture WORKS plans, supplies and installs office and welfare furniture for construction site accommodation.
Inherent in our operation is the specialist planning of logistics to ensure deliveries meet strict timings whilst upholding exceptional levels of safety as required and expected by our clients and staff.
Site teams are too often confronted with the need to unload components and materials delivered on lorries and to sites managed by others without a standard provision of safe working arrangements for doing so. TCi designed and commissioned the fabrication of a steps and balustrade set to match the standard opening width of doors and the load bed height of lorries.
The steps disassemble into kit form and can be transported in company vans for quick assembly by the site team when required. They feature non-slip stainless-steel footplates and double hand rails.
The result is a system available to TCi site teams for use when trucks are unloaded by hand which greatly reduces the risk of falls from height. It allows only one door of the trailer to open, whilst the other is clamped shut by the balustrade, which also provides essential hand-rails on both sides. Its portability is key to the operation, fitting neatly inside a standard van.
When coupled with a set of temporary barriers, the steps provide a safe area of work and clear segregation between TCi operations and other site or public activity, depending on the situation. This increases safety and visibility for all parties.
