Safer walking over rebar

Safety is of paramount importance within any site environment, as a vigilant approach to safety can prevent unnecessary accidents and save lives.

There should be no shortcuts taken where safety is concerned.

Safety awareness should be constantly raised and promoted to protect workers, visitors and members of the public.

Examples of how safety systems have been implemented to ensure the safe footing of operatives include:

  • On this site Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) mats were used over the top of rebar to clearly define walkways and paths on site;
  • The GRP mats were used in areas where ground trip and slip hazards could occur;
  • An anti-slip surface covers the mat to ensure the safety of the operative;
  • The mat also evenly distributes the load of the person walking across it, which in turn significantly reduces the risk of damage to the rebar.
