Say ‘NO’ to Portable Toilets

The protection of the environment has always been high on our agenda. We have been scrutinising our practises and the footprint we leave behind while working at our sites ever since we started our company.

One such factor that we have uncovered during our research and proved to be immensely “Un-Green” was the use of portable toilets when they were not necessary.

We understand that when there is no other option portable toilets are essential. However, if there are other options available like the use of clients’ or public toilets we should exhaust the alternative options first prior to ordering portable toilets.

If we do need to order portable toilets we would always use a company that uses biological based products rather than toxic chemicals.

So why should we avoid using portable toilets if we can? There are number of factors:

  • CO2 emissions because the toilets need to be transported to the sites and taken to wastewater treatment plants.
  • The use of chemicals like formaldehyde that must be treated at wastewater treatment plants separately as these chemicals are toxic.
  • Lastly a smell that portable toilets that are not serviced regularly can leave.
