Screw Loose Charity Campaign

Screw Loose is an initiative undertaken by St George and Multiplex and in conjunction with a charity at One Blackfriars targeting loose screws that are left lying around by operatives.

We have found that there has been a large number of screws left lying around on the floor which not only causes quality issues e.g scratches on finished works / floors but also pose as a Health & Safety issue in regards to trip hazards and penetration. As a result of this the Screw Loose campaign has been created.

The idea is for every screw found on the floor the contractor responsible will pay 50p to charity. The screws are collected using magnetic sweepers. Each contractor is working on a different level so by monitoring the levels the contractors are working on, we can identify who the screws belong to.

So far we have been trialling the Screw Loose campaign for 3 weeks and it has been very successful, raising £192.50 for the chosen charity, the Prince’s Trust who help support 13 – 30 years olds that are unemployed or struggling at school. Many of the people supported by the Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law. The trial will go on for 3 months but depending on the success it will be looked at being carried out across the whole year and potentially to other Multiplex and St George projects.
