Service Riser Protection

The GRP grating is called off to the exact size and shape required and delivered to site in aluminium form work to make it safer and easier to cast the recess into the slab for the GRP grating to sit in. This eliminates cutting the GRP on site (it is hazardous to cut) and using plywood form work and power tools on site to form the recess and void in the slab, the aluminium form work boxes are pre-fabricated off site in the factory environment. The whole aluminium form work is then cast into the reinforced concrete.

Advantages include:

  • Eliminates use of skill saws and other power tools
  • No dust due to it being formed off site
  • No striking of boxes required
  • Nails aren’t required
  • On site installation, off site fabrication
  • Operatives cannot remove the GRP because it is fixed into the box
  • No risk of falling
  • Quick installation

Hazards eliminated include:

  • Silica Dust
  • HAVS
  • Noise
  • Cuts
  • Amputation
  • Injury from Stepping on Nails
  • Injury from Falls/Slips or Power Tools
  • Trailing Leads
  • Fall of Materials
