Shaving Station Provided on Site to Allow Operatives to Shave for FP3 Mask Fitting

Providing the appropriate and accommodating welfare facilities can improve workforce morale.

It is important to provide not only adequate but also comfortable facilities to the workforce.

An employee who feels valued and taken care of is more likely to pay more attention o their work and perform at a higher standard.

Below is an example of how we provided shaving facilities on site:

  • Respiratory Protective Equipment is required as part of a safe work system and the mask must be fitted properly with a tight seal around the face to enable it to be fully effective;
  • One of the requirements of the test for the masks is that the person being tested is clean shaven;
  • A shaving station was therefore provided on site in the welfare facilities;
  • This included a mirror, allocated wash hand basin and cupboard containing disposable razors and shaving foam;
  • Spare stocks of foam and razors were also kept in the site office;
  • This allowed operatives to shave when called for FP3 mask fitting and avoided delays in getting a proper fit.
