Sighted Guides for the Vision Impaired

45 members of staff have been trained by Guide Dogs (the organisation formerly known as Guide Dogs for the Blind) as Sighted Guides for Vision Impaired people.

These staff have been trained how to approach a member of the public with sight support needs, how best to offer support and how to guide them through our works, which are in busy urban environments.

The training has ensured these staff know how to communicate effectively and appropriately and ensure that the person can find their way onwards. It is our intention that all of our Customer Experience Representatives, who are enhanced Traffic Marshalls, will receive this training so that the first experience any member of the public has with our organisation is a positive one.
