Steel is the world’s most widely used material – but despite technologies existing for production to be decarbonised, steelmaking is currently one of the biggest emitters of CO2 globally.
Organisations that join SteelZero make a public commitment to procure 100% net zero steel by 2050. By harnessing their collective purchasing power and influence, we’re sending a strong demand signal to shift global markets and policies towards responsible production and sourcing of steel.
Steel constitutes around 7% of the average high rise building’s contribution to it’s overall embodied Carbon. The Paddington Square team are the first Mace project to recognise this and be actively engaging with the scheme, since Mace as a company joined on 01 December 2020.
The team at Paddington Square are working with the steel contractor on site to actively reduce the embodied carbon on the project.
