We took the opportunity to celebrate ‘World Quality Day 2017’ in November by celebrating everyday leadership across the project, including the brilliant work our leaders and managers do all year round to engage and influence our stakeholders, customers and clients.
We recognised that our quality professional workforce at all levels display leadership behaviours, from advocating why quality is important, to using fact based thinking to balance conflicting objectives and targets. We reaffirmed our commitment to do things properly and to objectively evaluate outcomes, along with a passion for continuous improvement. We did this by a programme of engagement with our workforce around quality over a week long period.
Day 1 – Reminded everyone that World Quality Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the team, to recognise those that demonstrate leadership to sustain and improve performance every day of the year.
Day 2 – We reminded our workforce of the leadership teams we have in place across the project and the company using organograms.
Day 3 – We celebrated some of our achievements this year by numbers, highlighting the link to quality.
Day 4 – We asked our own management team what Leadership meant to them, with answers displayed in the canteen area.
Day 5 – We provided a Leadership self-assessment tool for everyone to try, based on individuals’ perception of how much they agree with various statements.
