As a responsible business, Mace is reducing the 3,000 tonnes of plastic waste it generates every year and will reduce its consumption of single-use plastics by 20% on sites and corporately by 80%. To do this, we have launched a single-use plastic reduction campaign across the business called ‘Time to Act’ which encourages people to ditch unnecessary plastics.
At Mace’s Farringdon East OSD project, a single-use plastics workshop was held with the workforce to discuss the issue and identify sources of single-use plastics arriving on site. This involved watching a short video on the impacts of single-use plastics on the environment to raise awareness of the issue.
Each subcontractor then reviewed changes they could make with their suppliers to reduce single-use plastics in various forms such as packaging, containers and cable ties, with a number of successful changes now implemented on the project.
