Site Educational Tours

Due to the historical interest in the Ewart House building on the Bedford Square property, we extended the invitation to various parties for a site tour.

We had students from the University of Ulster Architecture course and Aecom Engineering Apprentices on site to view various elements of the works, such as restoration of the old building and how this will be incorporated into the new building.

During the student group’s tour, our Senior Engineer on site provided a short briefing of the history of the site, demonstrating how the old building would have been constructed and brought them forward to show how it was made safe with new piles and engineering. They were then given a guided tour of the site.

We also had a group from the historical restoration department in Belfast City Council on site to review Ewart House, so that they can see the level of protection and restoration that is currently taking place to ensure that the original building fabric can remain the focal point of the building. As the preservation of the building was key to the grant of planning, the visit from BCC proved to be very positive as they were able to see the work in action.

We intend to invite the groups back at a later stage in the project so that they can see the progress of the project and see first hand how the project develops over the course of a number of months.
