It was that time of the month we were due to carry out a site fire drill. It was a very hot day in May and the guys on site were still out working hard. The job was going well and everything to plan so Higgins thought it would be nice to treat the staff on site.
Holding a fire drill was the perfect time to get everyone together. To cool off, Higgins hired the local ice cream van to come on to site and we treated all the site guys to a ice cream once the fire drill was completed.
This really boosted everyone’s attitude and energy on site, and also made the office staff closer with the subcontractors on site because they knew the site team appreciated their work.
Numerous staff were very shocked as they had never had a ice cream van on site before! We feel that a little gesture of appreciation goes a very long way and it’s a good way to show everyone that we are all one team.
We also contributed to the local community as the ice cream van man lives and works in the Islington area. This went down really well with everyone and is something the team down at King Square will look to do again.
