Skcin: Sun Safety in the Workplace

Skcin are a skin cancer charity whose primary objectives are to raise awareness of skin cancer and promote the importance of sun safety and early detection through national educational initiatives and targeted campaigns. All of the funds they receive into the charity via corporate support and the generous donations made by fundraisers and members of the public, are ploughed back into raising awareness, prevention materials and campaigning for change.

They have a focus on sun protection in the workplace called ‘Sun Safe Workplaces‘ and have created a portal that brings that information together, making it easy for employers to access resources that are engaging, easy to comprehend and deliver within staff education programs.

All employers have a duty of care to assess health risks at work. We know that in around 80% of cases, skin cancer is caused by over exposure to UV.

Education on the prevention and early detection of the disease is therefore paramount and needs to be on everyone’s agenda.
