Smile Plastics

This contractor has worked with Smile Plastics on their site in London.

The start-up company uses recycled plastics only to create new items of furniture for the final completed project, with an agreement in place for Smile Plastics to create vanity units for the superloos on site.

They have been successful in using a start-up company to provide 100% recycled content products into the final project. In future they will look to potentially supply the waste plastics rather than using the Smile Plastics feedstock, but the quantity, quality and having enough material at the right time could not be confirmed.

They discussed this initiative with the client, BREEAM and WELL assessors to ensure no issues, particularly in relation to any VOCs and offgassing.

This helps pave the way for further recycled content products to reduce waste and consider waste as a resource, and understanding its potential for applications on site.
