On this project they are building a new offline bypass and are required to continuously monitor the noise of operations across the duration of the scheme, therefore seven Solar Li-ion powered Noise Monitoring stations have been installed during 2021.

The monitoring equipment provides real-time data capture and trigger alerts via a customised web platform, enabling the construction team to be notified of any exceedances of site specific noise criteria.

The acoustic and electronic equipment is fully compliant with British Standards, but also powered through sustainable means such as solar panels and Lithium-ion batteries, to minimise construction carbon on site.

Utilizing Solar Power and Li-ion also reduces the overall system size by 40% both in terms of size and weight which assists with reducing manual handling. A combination of solar panel and Li-ion batteries is not only portable but is a solution which provides longevity to the monitors, therefore avoiding frequent maintenance visits to site.
