Used to stabilise prefabricated cages for the walls or in situ steel fixing, the contractor designed a steel socket which is cast into the kicker of the wall (kicker height varies from 120mm to 420mm) where they insert a steel column that holds the cage in place until the wall shutters are placed and it is supported by the wall shutters.
The socket is left in situ (as it is cast in the kicker) and the column is removed and recovered once the wall shutters are closed to be used on the next sockets.
It is a simple temporary works solution which allows for the steel fixing to progress ahead on its own, ahead of the other works without being limited to other activities (such as lifting).
