Sugar Free Site Office

Westleigh are keen to promote and implement ideas specifically designed to protect and enhance our workforce’s health and wellbeing. A healthy workforce is also less likely to need time off due to sickness and are happier in the workplace.

On our Loughborough site we have introduced a sugar free site office and meeting room, as with a number of meetings on site every week we found that an alarming amount of sugar was being consumed.

Keeping the site office and meeting room sugar free has seen many of our visitors stop having sugar in their tea and coffee; sweets, biscuits, cakes and soft drinks are also banned with a spring water dispenser installed.

Reducing our intake of sugar helps with weight loss directly connected with diabetes. The government recommendations suggest that we should be getting no more the 5% of our daily calories from free sugars in our diet – that’s around 100 calories for a typical adult female and free sugars occur in milk products and fruits.

Sugar awareness week will run from the 6th to the 12th of November 2017.
