Super Hoist for Reducing Working at Height

A super hoist was employed on the project to install ceiling mounted fan coil units to all six floors of the refurbishment.

Health and safety issues that were identified while reviewing the installation methodology of the units were predominately in relation to work at height and manual handling, i.e. how to safely install an FCU approx. 1m x 1m x 0.35m, to a height of 4.5m.

After a comprehensive review and consultation with various supply chain partners, the super hoist was trialled and selected.

The decision to use the super hoist addressed the work at height and manual handling concerns as the hoist lifts the FCU and work at height is easily overcome as only one man is required to work from a manual pop up to secure the FCU to the Unistrut support system.

Another key decision was the simplicity of operation/ set up of the hoist. Sections of duct work and heating pipework were also lifted utilising this hoist.
