Supporting a Festival of Cycling

This contractor via a succession of meetings helped to organise the inaugural Hawick Festival of Cycling which proved to be a resounding success, so much so, there are requests to run it again next year.

The Community Liaison Officer took a key role in the planning, coordinating and marketing of the Festival as a whole, whilst additionally taking the lead for organising, setting up, sign posting and gaining volunteers for the Festival of Cycling.

The festival spanned over 3 weeks from the Ken Laidlaw Sportif to Stage 7  of the Tour of Britain.

This intense involvement with a festival further demonstrated that the contractor is creative and cares about the communities in which they work and delight in promoting ideas that can benefit the community at large with a view to creating a lasting legacy that brings positive divides to the town and people of Hawick. These activities helped generate socio-economic stimulus; encouraged people of all ages and abilities to get outdoors and enjoy free activities; established great collaborative networks in the town; and brought much cheer in a town that is now lacking in industry.
