Westleigh’s site in Loughborough has supported ‘Men in Sheds’, a national scheme operated by Age UK that aims to engage the retired and those with health problems, with worthwhile companionship through community projects making benches and bird boxes as well as other small projects from their local workshop.
The site manager and three operatives donated the site hoarding and other spare timber for this worthwhile project, giving much needed resources to help them continue. We now aim to donate more spare or unwanted items to them as the site nears completion.
By donating materials to this local community project we have recycled what would have been a waste product, saved the costs and also the emissions of having to transport this further distances.
The scheme is a great skill sharing project giving a sense of purpose and also much needed social interaction to those involved.
