Supporting and Promoting the Lighthouse Charity

The project team  have been working closely, in partnership with Blackwood Plant Hire, to support and promote the work that the Lighthouse Charity do for the wellbeing of construction workers across the UK. They have the first ever Lighthouse Charity liveried excavator in the UK on their site.

The excavator serves as a constant reminder to the workforce that they are there to offer support if they need it. For every hour of plant hire,£1 is donated to the Lighthouse Charity. They have also had representatives on site to provide an overview of what support they can offer and have donated £500 to support them.

Mental health is such an important issue, particularly post-Covid and in the face of the current financial pressures being felt by families across the UK due to the cost of living crisis, and also within construction where instances of suicide are higher than anywhere else. The Lighthouse Charity excavator is a far more effective beacon for their teams than traditional posters in the welfare and sparks conversations between colleagues on a daily basis, improving the workforce culture. The donation system is also a fantastic way for them to support this important charity and the work they do.
