Supporting communities near and far

Here at The Coleman Group, supporting communities as well as local and national charities is an important part of our culture.

From skydives to bake sales, our dedicated teams are more than willing to go that extra mile to support a good cause and we are the proud sponsors of a number of local sports clubs and community initiatives, including local youth football teams and a major improvement project in Dartmouth Park, close to our Shady Lane HQ.

Sometimes, the community efforts of The Coleman Group family go even further – as demonstrated by our Design Engineer, Andre Jaarson. Andre and his wife Rebeccah are active members of a church community in their home town. Eight years ago, the church purchased and developed an area of land near Kisumu, a village in Kenya. The idea was simple – create a small farm to supply local widows with maize so that they could feed themselves and their families.

This year, Andre and Rebeccah joined the church’s global missionary works on its annual visit to Kisumu, where the Lichfield community supported locals both on and off the farm. From planting maize and tending to crops, to gifting goats to local children, and visiting a number of local schools, this really was a clear demonstration of communities helping other communities.

And what about The Coleman Group? Well, we were delighted when Andre asked us to support the purchase of sports equipment so that the missionary could arrange a fun-filled sports afternoon for local orphaned children. The equipment was then donated to the orphanage so that the children could carry on enjoying a variety of sports and games long after the departure of the annual church mission.
