St Edward Homes teamed up with Tweseldown Infant School to plant a tree at Hartland Village, its landmark development in Fleet, to mark the Woodland Trust’s Big Climate Fightback (November 30). Six students gathered to plant the tree, which is just one of the 174 being planted during the first phase of building on site.

Mrs Kim Totten, Headteacher at Tweseldown School, said: “The tree-planting was a great way to get involved with the Woodland Trust’s excellent initiative. This is a really important topic for our students to explore and it was also enlightening to find out what goes on behind the scenes at Hartland Village!”

In addition to tree planting, the children learned about the brand new lake at the development, which has been filled with recycled rainwater and is now home to wildlife, including dragonflies – even the bridge which leads over the lake has lampposts that are blacked out on one side to prevent reflective light disrupting the local bats’ hunting habits.
