Surface Water Management Sludge Lagoon

To improve surface water management on Beinn an Tuirc Windfarm Phase 3, a large lagoon was built to collect all sludge from Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) ponds across the entire site.

To prevent any potential leaks and ground water contamination, the lagoon was lined with impermeable material.

After the silt has settled, the lagoon is emptied of treated, clean water and excess silt is used for borrow pit restoration and environmental bund construction.
