Switching from paper plans to tablets and TV’s

We have tried to reduce the huge amount of printed paper and therefore our printing bills by using Tablets for our QA Checks and Snagging.

We have also replaced our plan table and A1 paper copy of all drawings with two 55-inch TV’s.

One has been set up in the Meeting Room and the other has been placed in the Induction Room.

The tablets are used for:

  • Snagging and QA Checking – we use a system called SnagR for issuing our QA & Snagging Forms to contractors to complete. We then review these once completed and sign them off via the system, this saves us a lot of paper printing and filing time. Every Contractor receives  training of how the system works and a daily report for all outstanding works to be done. There is no need for printing, as all information is stored in the system and is accessible from both laptop and tablet.

The TV’s are used for:

  • Site Induction Presentations – To avoid printing off induction slides and relevant paperwork.
  • Client Meetings – To avoid printing off the long client reports and programs and all related paperwork.
  • Other meetings when the plans need to be discussed in a group setting. Workers can simply beam the plans on the tablet to display on the TV through a Bluetooth connection, or laptops can be connected to the TV via a HDMI Cable. This will ease the viewing of details, as they can easily zoom into the drawing and clearly see what’s required such as dimensions.
