Synchronising Traffic Systems

Works taking place on busy highways must ensure the safety of the roads where construction is taking place. Roadworks can cause disruption to drivers and lead to confusion which makes the roads less safe.

See the examples below for how one site addressed this:

  • Busy roads with multiple junctions already have traffic lights which follow a set pattern.
  • However, when contractors work on the roads they often have to erect their own traffic lights which can cause confusion with the existing lights, leading to congestion and safety risks.
  • The site used a device which synchronised their lighting with the existing traffic light system.

This system simplifies the process of traffic management and ensures the safety of road users.
