Teaching and Learning Responsibility Funding for Teachers

This contractor have funded Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) payments for 3 teachers at King Henry VIII School. This is unique to the King Henry VIII 3-19 School project. It provides an uplift in salary and enables teachers to take on additional responsibilities in the school.

They have agreed that these 3 teachers will facilitate improved STEM events and activities, involving the contractor team to contextualise classroom based learning as much as possible. One teacher is focusing on Girls in STEM, helping address barriers and stereotypes. This has led to a contractor led challenge on International Women’s Day in which female pupils in Years 9 and 10 worked in teams to design a sustainable school.

Another teacher is exploring opportunities to enhance the delivery of the New Curriculum for Wales through employer engagement. They have committed to supporting STEM lessons and helping to bring the curriculum to life for pupils by using the project as a case study. The third TLR funded teacher is focusing on external challenges and competitions. They are facilitating pupil involvement in competitions such as the Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW). This initiative is working really well and is leading to positive experiences for school pupils.
