It is important that when you are working on a project with a close site team that you all understand each other. King square site team wanted to bring the team closer together by holding a “Belbin Team building day”, a 2 day team building activity which took place on site. There were a number of tasks, one of them being a personality test – this is a list of 88 questions with only two answers to choose from. You also have to take part in team building activities.
The main point of this activity is measuring your preferred behaviour when working within a team. There are no right or wrong answers, and no particular Team Role is ‘better’ than any others. The underlying idea is to understand your behavioural strengths and allowable weaknesses, and hence use them to best effect.
As a team we felt this brought us closer together as we were able to recognise the strengths and weaknesses within our team and support each other more. The personality tests were very accurate as some strengths we had already noticed in each other.
