Repetitive manual handling causes stress on the body and can lead to severe health problems in later life. Sites should do all they can to minimise operatives’ manual handling to secure their safety.

  • The site created and implemented a high-quality temporary ‘trapdoor’ that has been produced and installed in all houses during the build process on site.
  • The ‘trapdoor’ reduces manual handling of plasterboards, keeping them away from stairways where it is difficult to carry them.
  • This system also speeds up the stacking process.
  • Due to the robust design of the ‘trapdoor’ there is no risk of trips or falls.
