Thermal Temperature Scanning Camera

We have closely worked with our supply chain partner, VIS Systems, who have developed and installed thermal imaging cameras on the back of the unprecedented situation Coronavirus has presented which accurately monitors’ peoples’ health as they enter the site.

Previously the site has been using a handheld temperature scanner controlled by the gateman however with current social distancing restrictions in place and the system only capable of reading within 0.2m it was impossible to maintain these rules along with concerns over the speed and accuracy of these handheld scanners which can be +/- 5 degrees.

To mitigate this risk, we have installed a thermal temperature scanning camera located at the pedestrian entrance which means everybody entering site will be accurately scanned by this system. This not only mitigates the risk and ensures social distancing but improves awareness for workers potentially having a fever.

This technology is not new but the latest technology enables a quick, reliable and safe way of scanning temperatures of operatives on site. The camera has a dual thermal and optical lens and must be installed internally to ensure accuracy (+/-0.3 degrees) which has meant we have installed an external walkway to capture the data.

The system will automatically sent out email alerts to the site management team should someone be recorded with a temperature over 38 degrees in line with NHS guidelines. The initial feedback to this solution has been great considering this is all done utilising the technology rather than the handheld temperature readers creating more of a risk and ensures social distancing.
