At a Project Scheme Champion’s meeting, one subcontractor advised on their issues with tinnitus and how they have managed the condition by using a mobile phone app. The Tinnitis Tailor app provides background sound therapy, which greatly reduces the effects of tinnitus.

As tinnitus is a common condition (affecting around 30% of people) and brought about by changes in noise levels, which is a common occurrence in the construction industry, action to raise awareness of the effects of not wearing ear protection, forming hearing protection zones and helpful suggestions that could be used to ease the effects of the condition with the rest of the workforce.

Tool box talks were delivered on the above subjects, information posters were erected and posters with QR codes were displayed to enable the workforce to access some further information and apps which may help.
