Tips for Home Working

With the current coronavirus pandemic, more people than ever are working from home. Although some people are used to working from home, many of us are not, so the following guidance has been put together to help those who may need some help adjusting. These simple hints and tips may also be useful if a situation like this ever occurs again.

You may find the following hints and tips useful while adapting to working from home:

  • Try to keep your routine as close to normal as possible – this could be by doing things like getting up or showering at your usual time, trying to keep up with usual hobbies/activities (within reason).
  • Make sure you have a comfortable area to work in that allows you to maintain a good working posture.
  • Communication – some people may find it difficult not seeing their colleagues face-to-face on a daily basis, so don’t be afraid to make more phone calls or send more emails than usual.
  • Take regular breaks – this is important to give your eyes a break from looking at a screen and to improve your concentration.
  • In your breaks, ensure you use the opportunity to move around, as working from home can result in increased periods of inactivity.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and try to maintain a healthy diet – avoid the temptation of unhealthy snacks!
