Translator hard hat sticker

The construction industry needs to provide a working environment which is safe and suitable for all.

It is beneficial to have consideration for members of the workforce, visitors and public who may originate from outside the UK, as this helps create an equal and diverse site which can communicate effectively.

Below is an example of how translators can be easily recognisable to ensure all safety updates and messages are understood:

  • On site 65% of operatives did not speak English as their first language and there were 10 different languages spoken on site;
  • The site manager decided to print a ‘Translator’ hard hat sticker so individuals who did not understand what was being said during inductions and safety briefings would know who was able to assist them;
  • The system was such a success that the company rolled the initiative out across all of their sites.
