‘Tree of Life’ – Feature used to reach out to the local community

Effective communication is vital to establish and maintain excellent community relations.

Sites should be proactive in establishing a line of communication with local residents, which not only shows that you are approachable, but you are also a considerate site.

A good relationship with the local community is likely to offset any frustrations and complaints that may occur.

The feature described below, demonstrates a unique way in which one site has engaged with the local community:

  • A 3D tree was designed and made of copper, which included interchangeable hanging plaques that could be prepared by the client, tenant, contractor and schools;
  • The tree was installed pre-completion, within the courtyard of the proposed apartments, lit at night and was used for advertising special occasions, such as upcoming social events, Christmas and community news;
  • Post completion, this tree is likely to become a permanent feature.
