On this project they are implementing a site wide plastic reduction campaign. Within this campaign they are actively looking for new solutions to reduce the amount of plastic that ends in a landfill. On top of this, the site are carrying out a ‘get into construction’ scheme where they are involving local schools and colleges in their day to day operations and have combined the two initiatives to raise awareness of the environmental impacts the construction industry has with the next generation of builders.

The project team collected all of their used bottles, milk cartons and any other plastic and sent them to a local school they are partnering with. The children within the school upcycled the cartons into bird feeders after a presentation on the impact of plastics on the environment, particularly within the construction industry. These were then periodically placed around site once collected from the school.

This reduced the amount of plastic ending in landfill, raised awareness of environmental impacts and increased biodiversity to the construction site by inviting wildlife back to the area.
