Using technology to create safety zones on site

The nature of construction work poses a number of potential risks to the workforce.

It is vital to undertake a risk assessment and implement measures to prevent incidents, in order to ensure the safety of your workforce.

Below is an example of how a site used technology to safeguard their workforce:

  • A safety exclusion zone was set up, which prevented all those not entitled to be in the zone from entering when work was taking place;
  • This was achieved by using GPS engineering techniques, controlled by the site computer in the setup, for the plant operators to follow with specified shut down times for others to visit, monitor and inspect.

This provided protection for all the workforce.
