Vehicle and Pedestrian Segregation Smart Barrier

The team have devised an automated safety initiative whereby pedestrians are safeguarded from oncoming vehicles using the sites one-way system.

Upon entering the one-way system, a motion detection device identifies a vehicle and automatically locks the pedestrian access/egress gates.

Upon doing so, the vehicle barrier is lifted and the system uses a secondary device to record that the vehicle has departed prior to releasing the pedestrian gates.

Whilst there are examples of similar systems, none have integrated both automated pedestrian and vehicular access barriers. This is the first of its kind on a project of this scale and within the Scotland region.

The primary benefit is the safety aspect of managing the pedestrian and vehicular interface onsite. This initiative reduces the risks associated with poor behaviour i.e. crossing without due care.
