Vehicle Mounted Ground Penetrating Radar

On their UCLan Highways Improvements project, Balfour Beatty have been using a vehicle mounted Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).

GPRs are used to conduct ground surveys in urban areas. These surveys have the potential to detect hazards prior to excavation.

Vehicle mounted GPR result in minimal disruption compared to traditional pram type systems. In Balfour Beatty’s case, this is effective because they have been working on a very busy city centre gyratory road system.
