Veterans Committee

This contractor has a family of veterans working within the business including a group of ex-armed forces and ex-‘blue’ light service personnel who have landed in the construction industry one way or another.

In order to support each other to the very best of their abilities, their Veterans Committee was formed. The Chairman and Vice Chairman are both ex-army, and secretary is ex-fire service.

The committee meet regularly and have agreed objectives to meet in order to support veterans within the industry, not just the business. The committee has also worked closely with the HR department to ensure that no veteran is discriminated against within the benefits, especially with pre-existing conditions.

Whilst they call themselves a committee, in reality they are a family who support each other both in the workplace and at home. They are proud of their past lives, and are ensuring that the transition for future veterans is seamless and enjoyable.

In addition to this there is a high number of Mental Health First Aiders in the committee, with all doing the internal counselling skills course being run by the  in-house Psychotherapist, which is helping to assist with any PTSD sufferers.
