Virtual Reality Crane Simulator Training

To enhance awareness of the hazards involved around crane operations, this contractor gave their operatives and subcontractors the experience of operating cranes using a Virtual Reality Crane Simulator.

The training workshop was provided by O’Reilly Training and the simulator gave their ‘Non-Crane Operators’ a very clear idea of what it is like to operate a crane and to see what a crane operator can and cannot do. It also gave an understanding of an operator’s clear line of site and blind areas of which many site staff might not have understood before the training.

Several employees and subcontractors on the site completed the training from the foreman to engineers. The feedback that they received from those who participated was that the training was excellent and improved their day-to-day operations on site with regards to safety, communications and efficiency.
