Virtual Reality Safety Training
The BGCL team wanted to produce a Behavioural Safety Film to tackle the issue of service strikes. We created a short 360 virtual reality film, working with the team on site to reconstruct a cable strike. The film demonstrates a range of errors which led to the accident and then shows the aftermath of the incident as well as the impact on the team.
Since the 5th June 2019, the buried services module has been rolled out by the HSEQ department across a number of projects. In total, 256 people have received the training so far including workers from a variety of different subcontractors. In addition, a stand down day was undertaken at Leeds Station Project for more than 100 people receiving the training throughout the day. There were also five comprehensive questions asked at the end of each session to test key learning point
Feedback from the training included:
- 72% stated that the training will change their individual behaviour on site.
- 79% stated that the training had made them think differently about safety.
- 87% stated that the 360 safe VR film made more impact than a standard safety video
