Virtual Work Experience Programme

In line with current Scottish Government coronavirus guidance, only essential staff are permitted on construction sites. To ensure we could still deliver employability and work placement outcomes Multiplex developed a Virtual Work Experience Programme in partnership with the Department for Work & Pensions and their supply chain.

The programme targeted 18-24 year olds with little experience of the construction industry, job changers from other industries or those made redundant as a result of coronavirus.

The completely online programme included routes and careers into construction, industry speakers from Multiplex, the supply chain, CITB & Skills Development Scotland along with some employability workshops looking at CV and Mock Interviews.

The cohort that completed the programme all fed back an increased knowledge and engagement with careers in the construction industry and greater confidence when applying for roles in the future. One individual was offered employment within our supply chain before the week was out.
