Visual Targets for Crane Operators

At the Pontoon Dock site, we constantly try to improve the safety of our workforce. We believe that we have an obligation to provide our construction workers the highest standards in terms of working conditions. By using these tools and processes, we can make their job easier and increase productivity.

Communication is often a challenge, and confusion can be avoided by communicating well. During the civil works, it is vital to maintain the sequence of the shutters for the construction of the slabs and walls.

Good communication between the crane driver and the team on site is important to plan the next shutter and by doing so, we always have the next move planned.

The communication can be verbal but also visual. Adding a visual in the communication between the crane driver and the team has increased the productivity on site within a safer environment.

This visual communication is simple and efficient. It is a visual target which allows to:

  • Identify the destination of the next shutter by using high visibility signage.
  • Facilitate the communication between crane operators and the team.
  • Avoid any confusion or misunderstanding in the shutters sequence.
  • Clearly inform everyone working on the area that a shutter is going to be lifted on that zone. Specifically, the embedded services teams that are not used to work with shutters.
  • Good communication means a safer site. Production and quality will also be improved.
