Visually Measuring Noise Levels On Site

One of the issues on site is measuring noise levels, traditionally noise levels are measured with a decibel reader and the noise is displayed as a numeric reading.

On this project they have purchased a device which turns sound into a automatised colour display, the SoundEar 3.

SoundEar3 is a visual-based product, designed to provide the user with a comprehensive overview of the noise conditions in their surroundings. It visualizes noise and alerts you when the noise is becoming too loud. It is an ideal tool to help monitor and map your noise environment.

The SoundEar3 has a measuring range between 30 and 120dB, this simple but effective bit of kit can be positioned on site and it then displays in a simple traffic light format the noise from the surrounding area.

Additional software allows records to be kept, recorded on the device through a USB with the options of different time scales for reporting, ie once a week, daily or even several times during the day.
