When working in busy urban environments it is important to consider the impact on local residents and local communities.

During our footway construction works there is the potential for a great deal of noise to be created during the cutting of slabs and kerbs.

As a result of this and in an effort to reduce this impact VolkerHighways have started using the Soundex Quick-Tech Micro barrier to protect members of the public who may be affected by our works.

The Micro Barrier is a simple lightweight frame that has an acoustic sheet fitted that reduces the immediate impact of the cutting operation. It is mobile and collapsible so that it is easy to transport to, and manoeuvre on site. It is extremely easy to set up.

There are added environmental and safety benefits as these also reduce the noise levels for the workforce.

There is also the reduced impact of debris escaping from the cutting area as it is in a more controlled environment.
