Implementing Coronavirus Best Practice

VolkerRail have implemented many best practice initiatives related to coronavirus on their projects.

These initiatives included:

  • Segregation in meeting areas, canteen and office space,
  • Two metre distancing at preworks site briefing, site inductions and safety critical briefing,
  • Hygiene area and PPE disposal bin,
  • Disinfecting access locks prior to and after use, single use PPE disposal, site signage, first aid provision.
  • Induction update and signage, limiting welfare to one person at a time,
  • Use of RPE where two metre limit cannot be maintained as a control measure.
This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
